34 million euros committed for the Château-Gontier/Sablé-sur-Sarthe freight line – Le Journal des Entreprises – Maine-et-Loire
A major maintenance project for the Château-Gontier/Sablé-sur-Sarthe freight line should start by the end of 2023, for six to nine months. This regeneration of the line should allow its operation for the next thirty years. Its cost is estimated at 34 million euros, financed among others, for one third by the State and the Region and for another third by the community of communes of Château-Gontier. “This rehabilitation offers great prospects for the two companies that are already users”, indicates the Pays de Château-Gontier. Maisonneuve, a trader in metallurgical products, received 45,000 tonnes of steel in 2021 and aims to increase to 70,000 tonnes in five years. In addition, Séché Environnement should “develop its logistics activity for other companies”, from its site in Longuefuye (Mayenne). Bringing the line back into operation is of interest to other major players, such as the V and B wine merchant (more than 250 stores in France).
