Batteries: soon a ProLogium gigafactory in Dunkirk? – The Business Journal
The “battery valley” in formation in Hauts-de-France may well have gained yet another renowned international player. In addition to the arrival, announced and recorded at the end of March, of the Canadian Li-Cycle, a specialist in battery recycling, which will set up near Lens, Dunkirk could be about to welcome a new gigafactory. SAccording to our colleagues from Challenges indeed, ProLogium, Taiwanese manufacturer of new generation batteries, is about to announce an investment of 4.5 billion euros in Dunkirk, to build its first European factory there. Contacts and marks of interest between France and ProLogium have been numerous lately, notes the monthly, which points out that the Taiwanese group is also a partner of the Chinese ACC, which for its part is established in Douvrin. In the same logic, the arrival of ProLogium could well trigger a series of installations: its partner Vinfast, a Vietnamese manufacturer of high-end electric cars, would have put Germany and France in competition for the establishment of a factory. The choice of ProLogium, if confirmed, could therefore tip the balance towards France, or even Hauts-de-France…
