Cémoi wants to separate from its Christmas chocolate activity, the Molsheim site concerned – Le Journal des Entreprises
Blame it on inflation, rising production costs and falling volumes. These are the reasons given by the chocolatier Cémoi (3,200 employees, including 2,200 in France; 2021 turnover: €750 million) to justify its intention to separate from its Christmas chocolate activity under the Cémoi brand. The industrialist wants to refocus its activity on its core business, namely: “the manufacture of chocolates for industrialists, catering trades, distributor brands, and on its permanent brand products”. This strategic plan notably targets a plan to cease activities at the Molsheim (Bas-Rhin) site. It specializes in hand-decorated castings and employs 25 people. “A search process for a buyer for the site has been initiated and employees will be offered reclassification or support solutions,” the company said in a press release. The group’s production site located in the Loire is also affected by a sale to the Savencia group. Cémoi has 14 production sites, including nine in France. Since 2021, Cémoi has been part of the Belgian family group Sweet products (Turnover: €1.2 billion).
