Emmanuel Besnier, CEO of Lactalis, the first French “non-luxury” billionaire in the Forbes ranking – Le Journal des Entreprises – Maine-et-Loire
According to the annual Forbes ranking of the world’s greatest fortunes, published on Tuesday April 4, the Mayennais Emmanuel Besnier, CEO of the Lactalis group, ranks sixth in France and 71e world, with a fortune estimated at 22 billion dollars (20.4 billion euros). The American magazine notes that Emmanuel Besnier is “the first billionaire in the ranking to come from another horizon” than luxury and beauty, in France. This year, the Frenchman Bernard Arnault dethroned Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos in first place in this world ranking. His fortune is estimated at 211 billion dollars (against 158 in 2022). The richest woman in the world is also French: it is Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, heiress of L’Oréal, with 80.5 billion dollars. The Lactalis group is present in 52 countries with 270 dairies and cheese factories, and employs 85,500 people, for a turnover of 22.6 billion euros.
