The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Photography Contest 2023 officially begins on February 15, 2023. Registration is now open.
This year’s theme, “Sa’n Tayo Next? aims to highlight places in the Philippines that have tourism potential, but are just as beautiful. The photos sent must represent underestimated or little known places in the country, likely to become major tourist poles.
Carmelita Valdez, PAGCOR Assistant Vice President of Corporate Communications. invites photography enthusiasts, novices and lens professionals to participate in the contest which will run from February 15 to July 31, 2023.
“This is your chance to show off some amazing destinations in the Philippines that are not yet widely known and often visited. This will not only give travelers more options to explore, but it will also help boost tourism in this area, which will then provide sources of income for local residents,” she said.
To participate, participants must register on the competition website https://www.pagcor.ph/photocon2023 and send their contribution there. They must fill in the required information and upload the necessary documents to complete the registration. Photographs to be submitted must be in landscape format (horizontal orientation).
The photography competition has two categories: the conventional category, which includes photos taken using traditional or conventional cameras such as single-lens reflex (SLR) or DSLR, point-and-shoot and other cameras; and the mobile category, which includes photos taken using mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, drone-mounted cameras, and action cameras.
» We only allow a maximum of two entries per participant. People have the option to submit two photos in either the conventional category or the mobile category, or submit one photo for the conventional category and one for the mobile category,” Valdez added.
Mr. Valdez also reminded participants to register in the regional group in which they reside, namely Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas or Mindanao. They will be asked to upload a valid ID with address as proof of residency. However, they can still submit photos taken anywhere in the Philippines, regardless of where they live.
“We will carefully review applications. Photos sent to the wrong group will be automatically disqualified. Photos must also be taken between August 1, 2022 and July 31, 2023 only,” Valdez explained.
Big cash prizes await the 24 big winners of the contest – 80,000P for each of the 12 winners in the conventional category, and 35,000P for each of the 12 winners in the mobile category. An additional P10,000 will also be awarded to “Most Liked Photos” in each category.
The 2023 photography competition is open to all Filipino nationals who are at least 18 years old as of February 15, 2023.
