Origami Marketplace raises 2.3 million euros to accelerate its growth – Le Journal des Entreprises

This is a first fundraiser for the Comptoir du Code company based in Euratechnologies, in Lille, and co-founded in 2015 by three IT developers. The partners have just opened the capital of their company to investors. In January, they completed a funding round, which allows them to raise 1.5 million euros from around forty managers and entrepreneurs grouped within the Rennes fund. The Moon Venture (formerly the Prophets Club). The three founders – Vincent Pichon, Julien Bruitte and Alexandre Duquenoy – retain the majority of the capital. “We complete this fundraising with a debt of 800,000 euros granted by the CIC and Bpifrance”, specifies Julien Bruitte, CEO of the start-up which published, in 2018, Origami Marketplace. This software for companies allows them to create and deploy their own marketplace. “At the launch of this solution, our first client working in the field of horse riding, was interested in the sale of second-hand equipment, explains the manager. Then sports federations and their clubs followed. Today, with our software that can include the sale of new and used products on the same platform, we equip professionals in the DIY, bicycle and furniture sectors as well as franchise business networks.”

Booming circular economy

The online sales market is growing with growing interest in second-hand products. And it is the circular economy that drives the managers of Origami Marketplace: “It’s the DNA of our company, summarizes Julien Bruitte. We want to allow our customers to have their own sales platform by providing them software that is simple and adapted to their needs and we want to bring the circular economy to the center of the equation”.

The funding raised will enable the Lille start-up to recruit and thus boost the growth of Origami Marketplace. “We hope to triple our turnover (not communicated, editor’s note) and recruit around twenty people over the year. Five people are already about to join our team of 22 employees”, concludes Julien Bruitte.
