The refrigeration and kitchen specialist FCPL is concocting a building twice as large – Le Journal des Entreprises – Maine-et-Loire

The Motte-Babin area, in Louverné, a town located north of the Laval conurbation, is still developing. The future SNV/LDC logistics center under construction will have as a neighbor one of its suppliers: the kitchen and refrigeration specialist FCPL. The Laval SME (25 employees, 3.8 million euros in turnover), previously located a few kilometers away, within the Dahinières area in Changé, will move into its new premises in May 2023.

This investment of 1.2 million euros responds to “a necessity”, explains co-manager Thierry Joncheray. It has been several years since the 600 m2 are no longer sufficient to accommodate the company’s activity: stocks of equipment fill the warehouse, even the entrance hall, the meeting room has been requisitioned to become an office… This will no longer be the case on the new site. FCPL will double its surface thanks to this new building, consisting of 600 m2 warehouse, 200 m2 of mezzanine and 350 m2 of offices. It will include a workshop dedicated to troubleshooting.

FCPL will move in next to the future LDC platform, which can be seen in the background. The monitoring of the project was entrusted to the Bretillian contracting authority Creatic Ingénierie.

The after-sales service represents a third of the activity

FCPL carries out the study, sale, installation and maintenance of professional installations for collective kitchens (including air extraction systems, laundry rooms, laundries), refrigeration systems for butchers-charcutiers-caterers , supermarkets, and food processing and air conditioning workshops for the tertiary sector. Half of the activity is globally generated by kitchens, 38% by refrigeration, and the rest by air conditioning.

Overall, 30% of turnover comes from after-sales service (maintenance). The proximity and responsiveness required by these interventions explain the company’s limited field of action, whose teams operate within a radius of 80 kilometers around Laval.

Energetic transition

The company was created in 1996 by Pierre Launay, who called it Froid Cuisine Pierre Launay (FCPL). Former executive of the SME, Thierry Joncheray, refrigeration specialist, took over in 2008, joining forces with Thierry Maillard, specialist in professional kitchens. FCPL’s activity is globally stable. “We encountered and are still encountering difficulties in the supply of equipment, but even during the Covid, the activities continued to operate despite everything”, describes the leader. Its market is now evolving in terms of supply: “Equipment is increasingly integrating energy issues, with heat recovery systems for installations that use hot water. They cost more to buy but achieve better energy performance. Customers have now become more sensitive to it”.
