the State considers that it has achieved its objectives in December 2022
The State administrations ensure that they have achieved, in December 2022, the 10% savings in energy consumption that had been set as an objective in the sobriety plan presented by the Government last October. “The state played the game”indeed informed Agence France presse (AFP) the ministries of Energetic transition and the Public Service. Thus, in December, electricity and gas consumption fell by 13.8% and 7.1% respectively in the park concerned. The decline was already there in November: -8.3% for gas and -7.8% for electricity, compared to November 2019.
A “tracking mechanism”
Representatives of ten ministries met on Monday, February 13, 2023, to take stock of the subject. The state assesses its progress through the establishment of a “mechanism for operational monitoring of energy consumption”. It consists of reading data from 10,000 buildings, out of a fleet of 190,000.
A new working group entitled “Exemplary State” is due to meet on March 6, with the procurement, buildings and state operators departments. In the longer term, the objective of the public authorities is to reduce energy consumption in France by 40% by 2050.
